My first sketches with Tablet. It's definitely wrong and looks bad, but, I enjoy it.

Expedition to Coral Kingdom.

Sketch-thoughts

Thursday, 29 October 2009
Little sketch story, nothing special.

Funeral. I have image in my head, about funeral in the coral kingdom. I'm trying to think how to depict the whole atmosphere of ocean, different sea creatures, plants, dark depth, ( not necessary : submarine ). Why ? I think it is very dramatic moment. When somebody dies it concerns and touches only people from his close circle. The rest of the world keeps living their own lives without knowing or caring about it. Also, I think, this scene has own energy and power.
This man has deserved to be buried in wonderful place under the Ocean in Coral Kingdom.
Expedition. Far away Nautilus and crew. On the foreground, corals, creatures, plants, and some rocks with cave. In cave red, or yellow eyes.
Nautilus. Truth ? Nope, just another sketch.
Cabines, and space of submarine. I have picture in my head, but still can't draw it properly, even sketch.
I will try to make postapocaliptic view of this. How ? Don't know :S work, work, work and God will help me.

Concept Art Lecture

It was usefull information. To be honest, Simon Holland didn't invent bicycle, but everything old is new again. And I think he gave us a good strategy how to successfully pass our second project and gave us good push to the next level. Big thanks to him !
Questions :
  1. Where I can buy Wacom tablet intuos 3/4. Price approx. 200£. +- 20-30£ ?
  2. Searching for drawing books, tutorials - perspective, anatomy, digital paintings etc. I need compact books without unnecessary blabbing with clear examples - clear and accessible for beginners.
  3. Where to start, if I never draw before ?
Please, help me.

Life Drawing #5

Folder 9

Monday, 26 October 2009
I found some modern concept art adaptations of 20000 leagues under the sea.

Unit 2 : Space

I've got a folder 'numero' 9 - 20.000 leagues under the sea. As I said before, that in the life we won't be able to do everything we like. So, we must engage ourselves and enjoy it.
Ruben is absolutely right, that when you don't know the subject it is more interesting to investigate it. The futher I go the more interesting it becomes.
I know that there are a lot of sources about this novel. There are many films, one of them, surprisingly to me, was made in USSR in 1975. (Captain Nemo (Капитан Немо) (1975) — Soviet adaptation of the novel.)
Another one, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a silent film made in 1916, based on the novel by Jules Verne of the same title. But, I am not sure, that I like silent films.
Moreover, there is one directed by Richard Fleischer made in 1954.
Also, 1972 film - Rankin-Bass animated version... etc.
Finally, a novel by French writer Jules Verne published in 1870.

Let's roll (c)
P.S. Good luck to all !
